Prostate Health & Massage

What is Prostate Massage? It is the practice of massaging the prostate gland for intimate health and wellness purposes. Many men report that it is also accompanied by pleasurable sensations.

What is a Prostate Massager? A prostate massager is a device for giving massage to the prostate gland. It is inserted into the rectum through the anus. Lubricant is necessary to ease initial entry into the anal passage. Once inserted, the massager relies on the natural muscular contractions of the anal sphincter and anal wall to stimulate the prostate and produce its beneficial effect. Some massagers incorporate a vibration function.

What conditions can prostate massage help? Whilst most studies that have researched the benefits of prostate massage have been small and so not definitive, there is much anecdotal evidence to support the use of prostate massage in a number of conditions, in particular:
  • Chronic Prostatitis: Before antibiotics, prostate massage was the principal treatment for chronic prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate), helping to reduce swelling;
  • Urine flow: The prostate surrounds the urethra, which is the pipe connecting the bladder to the penis and the outside world. When the prostate is inflamed, the swelling constricts the urethra and restricts the flow of urine. By helping to reduce swelling, prostate massage therapy can help to easy the flow of urine again;
  • Pain on ejaculation: Massage therapy may help to ease the flow of fluid in the reproductive system, thereby helping to ease discomfort;
  • Erectile dysfunction (ED): Some men report that using prostate stimulation can help to improve their symptoms of erectile dysfunction.
Prostate massage for intimate wellbeing. Prostate massage is also used for sexual stimulation and the enhancement of intimate wellness. The prostate is sometimes referred to as the "male G-spot" or P-spot and some men can achieve orgasm through stimulation of the prostate gland alone. Prostate stimulation can produce a stronger, more powerful, and "deeper" orgasm than is elicited by penile stimulation only.

Safety and comfort. It is strongly recommended that plenty of lubricant be used with prostate massagers to prevent rectal lining damage. A smaller instrument or finger may be introduced gradually to help reduce any initial discomfort that may sometimes be felt.
